Garfield and Friends Episode Guide

The following list covers 121 half-hour episodes of GARFIELD AND FRIENDS produced between 1987 and 1994.  After the first season on CBS, they were aired in pairs as hours but they were always produced as half-hours and that's the way all my records are set up.  I should add that my records cover what was supposed to be in what half-hours.  I am still finding the occasional instance where episodes were moved around without my noting it here.  My thanks to all the viewers who've sent in corrections, especially Bill Campi and Kenneth Dwain Harrelson.

The shows are listed with the first air dates indicated where known.  Each half-hour included two GARFIELD episodes and one U.S. ACRES cartoon, although in some foreign markets, U.S. ACRES was renamed ORSON'S FARM.  Most shows included a number of blackouts, some of which were been dropped or relocated to other episodes when the shows were prepped for syndication.  (I should also add that the end titles became hopelessly inaccurate at that time — a not-uncommon occurrence when cartoon shows are reformatted for off-network runs.)

GARFIELD AND FRIENDS was Executive Produced by Jim Davis, Lee Mendelson, and Phil Roman.  Our producers were George Singer (first season and a half), Bob Curtis (rest of second and all of third), Bob Nesler (fourth and fifth) and Vince Davis (sixth and seventh).  No, Vince is not related to Jim.  I was Co-Producer, Writer and Voice Director.  Sharman DiVono contributed to the writing of a number of shows starting around the end of Season #1 and running until the first episode of Season #4.  I wrote everything else.

Space does not permit mentioning all the fine artists who worked on the show — especially since many of them were at James Wang's animation studio in Taiwan.  But I would like to mention Mitch Schauer, Karl Toerge, Scott Shaw!, Gary Conrad, Floyd Norman, John Sparey, Bill Riling and many, many others at the Film Roman studio.  The show, by the way, was a joint production of United Media/Mendelson (later just Mendelson Prods.), Paws, Inc. and Film Roman.

Desiree Goyette wrote the first two of our three theme songs.  Ed Bogas did all the music for all 121 half-hours.  Desiree and Ed wrote the Garfield songs for the first three seasons, then they were by me (lyrics) and Ed (music).  Thom Huge and Jon Barnard wrote all the U.S. Acres songs.  To answer our most-asked question, I wrote the lyrics to the ant songs while Ed wrote the music and did the voices of the ants.

GARFIELD VOICES: Lorenzo Music was Garfield.  Thom Huge did Jon and Binky, as well as various other folks.  Gregg Berger was Odie, Floyd Mouse, The Mailman, Madman Murray and about half the other male supporting players.  Desiree Goyette was Nermal, Julie Payne was Liz, Victoria Jackson was Penelope and Gary Owens was the announcer whose voice was heard in the opening titles.  Guest Voices are noted below and as you'll see, we had Frank Welker, June Foray, Stan Freberg and Neil Ross in a lot of episodes.  Also heard in the occasional uncredited bit part were Jim Davis, Lee Mendelson and myself.

U.S. ACRES VOICES: Gregg Berger was Orson Pig and the Weasel.  Thom Huge was Roy Rooster and Gort.  Howie Morris was Wade Duck and Wart.  Julie Payne was Lanolin.  Frank Welker was Bo, Booker, Sheldon, Fred Duck, Mort and darn near everyone else.  As you can see, we only had a few Guest Voices in these.

Seventy-three half-hours have been released to syndication and cable.  They are not exactly the first seventy-three because CBS held on to certain shows for their rerun package longer than others.  The other shows will be released some day soon; I have no idea when.  I also don't know when any of these will be out on video.  Several of the prime-time Garfield specials were run on CBS Saturday morn in our final season but I have not listed those.

Thanks and I hope you find this informative.  Or something.
