Hey, Sergio!

This message is for my friend/collaborator Sergio Aragonés.  I have a bunch of e-mails like this one from Chuck Huber…

In case no ne else has brought this to your attention…last night's (Fri. Nov. 21) episode of Boston Blue on CSBS featured a name-drop of Groo the Wanderer.

A young police officer, Sean Reagan, who has already been established as being a bit of a geek, was talking with a young woman whom he had accidentally run into (on foot) while pursuing a suspect. She says that she didn't enjoy being run over by Groo. He replies, "Groo the Wanderer?" She says, yeah, you know about Groo? He replies something to the effect of "It's only the best epic series ever." He then goes on to say that he had always thought of himself as more the Havok type. She says, "Havok? No, you're more of a Longshot-type." He's disappointed until she says, "I think Longshot is kind of cute."

I haven't gone back to see who wrote the episode but clearly at least some of the Boston Blue writers know their comics!

I found the episode online at this link. I could play it on my computer but I don't guarantee everyone will be able to play it.

The scene in question starts around 4:24 into it. The writer credit is for Terence Paul Winter, though as we know, something like that exchange could have been inserted by any of the show's many producers or story editors. Someone there knows the comic.
