Okay, okay…I guess I did see a "From a Format by…" credit somewhere else on TV. I watched The Munsters and the end credits said…
I don't know the history of who did what on that series and if you do, please don't explain it to me.
But credits that indicate some aspect of creatorship on a TV show or can mean a lot in terms of reputation and compensation and there's sometimes a lot of mud wrestling about them which can lead to unusual resolutions. It even happens sometimes when a new character is added to an exist series. My friend, the late Ron Friedman, wrote the episode of Bewitched that introduced Paul Lynde's recurring character and every time Uncle Arthur appeared on the show, Ron received a small (but not unwelcome) check.
Thanks to Michael Goldberg for telling me about the Munsters credit.
