The Best Thing I Ate In New York

I wrote and posted the previous post on the plane ride back to L.A. I'm home now.

This is not the Shrimp Parmesan.

The runner-up for Best Thing I Ate In New York is the Shrimp Parmesan at Carmine's restaurant on West 44th Street. It's the favorite dish of my lady friend Amber but she couldn't accompany me on this trip so Charlie Kochman and I devoured a big plate of it without her. Most Italian restaurants have Chicken Parmesan, Veal Parmesan and Eggplant Parmesan on their menus and they also have shrimp but for some reason, they don't offer Shrimp Parmesan and I want this to change. Get someone on this right away.

The Best Thing I Ate in New York, I ate this morning. My hotel was in Times Square and around 7:15 AM, I walked to a Five Guys in Times Square. Five Guys makes my favorite hamburger so I've been to a lot of them but this was the first Five Guys I've been to that offers a breakfast menu. It was also the first one I've seem that was open 24 hours a day. I had the Egg and Bacon Sandwich and I was delighted by it. It's two eggs and an awful lot of bacon on a hamburger bun. Boy, was it good…way better than other fast food Egg and Bacon Sandwiches I've tried.

And yes, "It costs a lot more," I hear you scream. Well, yes. It does. I admit it. Two eggs cost more than one egg. Lots of thick bacon costs more than does a few short pieces of the transparent variety. You can also add on any of the different add-ons they'll slap on your Five Guys burger but I just had ketchup on mine and it was terrific. Wish the Five Guys I patronize would get with this Breakfast Menu thing.
