Howard Storm, R.I.P.

Howard Storm had a couple of amazing careers as a director and as a comedian…and he also wrote and acted and there was a time when he managed prizefighters, I believe. If you think I have a lot of stories, you should have known Howard. I can't really do justice to his résumé but there's a real good obit over on Hollywood Reporter that will astound you with this man's credits.

Go read it. I'm serious. Go read it.

I knew Howard mainly through Yarmy's Army, a social group for comedians, writers and actors. He was one of its founders and eventually emerged as its leader. The group hasn't met in a while and perhaps never will again but in its heyday, it was a wonderful assemblage of talent, mostly comedic. Howard acted as M.C. and often had the funniest story of the evening — no easy feat in that room.

He died today at the age of 94. I really liked the guy and as near as I can tell, everyone else who knew him did too.
